Keep the Arts Alive
SMAC UpdateAugust 15, 2011

Greetings!

Do you go to performances and arts events put on by nonprofit arts groups all over Sacramento and notice the SMAC logo is often included in the printed programs? We ask that all the groups credit the City and County of Sacramento for the public funding they receive. The program that allows us to support these groups is known as Cultural Arts Awards. We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to observe a very special panel experience later this month.

On August 31st, Sept 1st, and Sept 2nd, we will hold three days of panel review. Experts in a wide range of disciplines and representative of diverse cultures will gather to publicly review the 60 applications they have evaluated over the last month. We often hear back from observers that they learned more about what SMAC is about from this experience than any other. Many applicants also find the experience very beneficial as it helps them become successful grant writers to SMAC and other funders.

The panel is the culmination of two years of revision by staff and a cohort of users and experts. Information on the convenient midtown location and the agenda will be made available by August 18th on our website. Please look for it on this page.

I hope to see you there,
