SMAC UpdateFebruary 7, 2011

Greetings!

Last week, 165 conservative members of Congress representing the Republican Study Committee called for termination of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and key arts education programs at the U.S. Department of Education.

Please take two minutes to take action and send a message to your member of Congress in support of the National Endowment for the Arts or arts education at the U.S. Department of Education. You can also donate to Americans for the Arts efforts to help prevent Congressional attacks on arts and arts education funding.

The NEA provides vital funding and support to the arts in the United States. We recently received a letter from Congresswoman Doris Matsui, announcing three grant opportunities recently released by the NEA: Our Town Program, Art Works program, and Challenge American Fast-Track program.

With arts funding and support being an ever-pressing matter, it is my pleasure to announce SMAC's Where's the Money? An Arts Funding Symposium, an opportunity to spend the day on March 22nd with top arts funders in the public and private sectors, local and national. It is our pleasure to have Congresswoman Doris Matsui on our schedule for the day.

Stay tuned for the email announcing the programming later this week!

Warm regards,

Rhyena Halpern, Executive Director
