Public Art Workshop MLK Streetscape Improvement Project
The public is invited to participate in a workshop to develop the framework for the public art that will be sited along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Sacramento as part of the MLK Streetscape Improvement Project. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 8, 6pm-8pm, at the Oak Park Community Center. For more information, click here. |

Poetry Out Loud Poet Coaches & County Competition
Poetry Out Loud is national recitation contest for high school students sponsored regionally by the California Arts Council, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, and the Sacramento County Office of Education. SMAC administers poet coaching in the schools and co-facilitates the county competition.
This year's poet coaches are JoAnn Anglin, Suzanne Brooks, Francie Dillon, Debora Iyall, Michele Krueger, Sandy Martin, Joshua McKinney, and Terry Moore. They are visiting the schools now until January. The County Competition is on February 3 from 12pm-4pm at Rosemont High School. For more information about Poetry Out Loud click here. |

Tour Guide Training Program
Become a Public Art Tour Guide
SMAC's Art in Public Places Program (APP) is offering its annual winter Tour Guide Training Program beginning January 2011. The program is for art historians, artists, educators, and/or community members who are interested in public art and volunteering to lead public art tours throughout the Sacramento area. Art from the Heart Gallery Reception Re-cap
