The public is invited to attend the capstone event to North Dakota 2.0 Introduced last fall, ND 2.0 is an initiative focused on bringing people together to discuss the future and how we achieve success, strengthen our communities and preserve our quality of life in a changing economy.
Adam Davidson and Alex Blumberg, award-winning hosts of radio show Planet Money, will highlight the summit as keynote speakers. They have the unique ability to present and explain even the most complex economic issues so that listeners gain a complete understanding of not only what happened and why, but also the importance of these news stories in their lives. Come hear them talk about the national economy and how North Dakota is contributing!

Trinity Health expects to open its new specialty clinic in Williston this August. USDA Rural Development financed the project with a $5.5 million loan.
The new facility will be a three-story medical office building that will replace two existing clinics - Trinity Community Clinic-Western Dakota and Trinity Regional Eyecare. When completed, the clinic will meet the needs of an aging population as well as the demand for services due to increased activity in the oil industry.

St. Luke's Hospital recently completed an addition and renovation project using a $1 million USDA Rural Development guaranteed loan through First National Bank and Trust Company of Crosby.
The hospital is a 15,011 square-foot, one-story medical building, with a partial basement on the south side of the hospital. Additional exam rooms were added and the hospital design was remodeld for easier access to services. The project improves the availabilty of modern medical services substantially to residents. | |

DENNIS RODIN RECEIVES WALLY BEYER AWARD |

At the North Dakota Association of Rural Electic Cooperatives (NDaRECs) annual meeting, Dennis Rodin received the Wally Beyer award. Candidates are evaluated on long-term contributions to rural development, whether through program design and implementation or the conduct of development practices that resulted in successful projects.
Dennis is the USDA Rural Development Business & Cooperative Program Director in North Dakota and was recognized by his peers for having a high level of proficiency in developing projects that benefit those who live in rural North Dakota. Congratulations Dennis as you are well-deserving of this award! |

Grant Deadline for rural businesses USDA Rural Development is seeking applications by May 9, 2012 for grants to help rural businesses create jobs and spur economic development. Through the Rural Community Development Initiative(RCDI) program, applications are sought for projects that:
- Provide technical assistance to improve the capacity of local organizations to complete successful housing, economic development and community facilities projects;
- Help recipients complete pre-development requirements - such as architectural and engineering plans;
- Help development organizations improve their broad operations, management and knowledge of financial and information technology systems;
- Provide homeownership education or training for entrepreneurs.
Part of the RCDI funds to be awarded may be used for projects associated with the Rural Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge. For more information, please contact Mark Wax, program director, at (701) 530-2029 or mark.wax@nd.usda.gov.
Apartments offer housing options for seniors in Williston
The 538 Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Program was used in conjunction with other financial resources to build two affordable housing apartment complexes in oil country. Williston Senior Apartment Homes, located at 2610 24th Ave W in Williston is targeted toward households age 55 and older. The complex consists of both one and two bedroom apartments, all with open floor plans, energy star appliances, and washer and dryer hook-ups. Tenants began moving in late June 2011 with no problem filling all 40 apartments.
