(that's Evy on the left...isn't she gorgeous?!)

 Greetings!
me and kids
I know I sound like a broken record...but WHERE HAS THE YEAR GONE?!  Unbelievably, we are already heading into semester 2...spring is only 5 weeks away (now that is enough to make even a grumpy old mum like me smile!)

After a very, very soggy start to the term's training, we have had simply AMAZING weather this week - truly gorgeous Sydney winters days...long may it continue.

Winter days like these make a perfect time to focus on our fitness and weight and nutrition management.  No use waiting until the summer if you are keen to drop a few jiggly bits....it's too late by then!  So embrace the bracing mornings and join us for some wonderful winter workouts.

What's happening at Fit Mango?

We are determined not to hybernate through the whole winter - and are keen to keep you all motivated and enthusiastic so that we can all hit summer in fine form!
  • We have been promising Pilates classes for some time, and we are pleased to let you know that they are ready to go!  Andrew (Drew) Renkert from the very new and very gorgeous Military Road Physiotherapy is working with Fit Mango to create some classes just for us.  Over the next few days we will send out and 'expression of interest' on attending our Pilates classes, so watch this space.
  • Our running squad has definately 'hit the ground running' (sorry, sorry, terrible punn but I just couldn't resist!).  We have now had 3 great sessions, including one in absolutely pouring rain!  Everyone is doing a fantastic job.
  • We would love to have another social function this term, and we would like some input into what you would like to do.  See the 'poll' below for some options..
  • We will again be entering a team in the Blackmores Bridge Run on Sunday 18th September.  All of the Running Squad girls are committed, but we would love to see some other Mango's out there too - there is a 9km and also a 4km option - something for everyone.  Let me know if you are interested.
  • And finally....we have one slight schedule change this term - our Wednesday 9:30 class with Sarah-Anne has moved back to 9am.  All the girls enrolled in that class know of the change, but for anyone who wished to do a make-up class on Wednesday, take note!

Congratulations to our Term 2 winners!

As we did last term, with the help of our own gorgeous Yvette Lever from Endota Day Spa Bowral, we are thrilled to announce our Term Two Training awards.

CONGRATULATIONS HELENA
Helena joined us at Fit Mango during term 1.  Since then, she has gone from strength to strength.  Always giving 100% and rarely missing a session, she has proven a joyous member of our team, quick to laugh, and quick to work hard.  She is a pleasure to train and it has been wonderful to see her grow stronger each session.  She is now taking on the new challenge of our running squad, and setting a blistering pace!  Congratulations Helena!

CONGRATULATIONS AMANDA P
What can I say about Amanda?  With us since the very beginning, Amanda has always worked hard and sets the benchmark for effort in everything she does.  But during the last term, her transformation has been quite amazing.  You know that something fantastic is happening when people are constantly commenting to both me and Amanda about how sensational she is looking.  Her body is transforming before our eyes....looking back on some photo's from our photo shoot just over a year ago, she is hardly recognisable.  Amanda, too has joined our running squad....and leaves the rest of us in the dust!  Well done Amanda, we know you will reach your goals before you know it!

Both deserving ladies will receive and incredibly indulgent gift voucher for a facial at Yvette's own Endota Day Spas in Bowral, or any one of the many Endota Day Spas located across Sydney.

Jayne's soapbox issue - Just RUN!
running girlsAs you all know, this term we are holding our very first Running Squad class on Fridays.  We have had a great response from you, and I know the 9 girls who have signed on to the squad are really enjoying themselves - and making some impressive milestones too!
So it got me to thinking about why running is such a great form of exercise - here are my top ten!

  1. Running improves your health.  It strengthens the heart and immune system and promotes efficient blood and oxygen flow.  It also has a significant impact on bone density helping ward off osteoperosis and has been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer too.
  2. Running helps improve your ability to lose weight.  Running promotes long, lean muscles, you just have to look at a long-term runner to see those amazing legs. It also helps spark your metabolism, increasing fat burning all day long!.....gotta love that!
  3. Running is social!  Just ask our running squad girls, running with a partner or group is really good fun - and a great way to catch up with your girlfriends.  Begin with a run and end with a coffee - feel good about yourself all day long!
  4. Running is portable.  Anywhere, any time, for any distance.  Just throw your runners on and away you go.
  5. Running is time-efficient.  You can start as soon as you leave the house and be home in half an hour, ready to get on with your day.  No driving to the gym or training, just walk out the door and go.
  6. Running is cheap!  Good shoes is really all you need.  Oh, and maybe an ipod!
  7. Running makes you feel good!  Trust me, it's true.  And that 'me time' helps us manage stress, sort out problems and plan our day.  Running also helps release endorphins into our bloodstream - their like nature's little happy pills!
  8. Anyone can do it!  With the exception of those of us with some joint issues, everyone can run!  Nobody says it has to be far or fast, or for that mattter, continuous.  But everyone can run, and everyone will get benefit from it.  It might only be a few minutes to start, but quickly we can build up our stamina and be running comfortably for half an hour.  No need to run a marathon or even a 10km race - just run and enjoy it!
  9. Running is FUN.  No, seriously!  Once you get past that initial feeling that collapse is just around the corner, going for a nice leisurely run on a beautiful day (like today) along the beach or a bush trail can be quite exhillerating.  Makes us feel glad we are alive and living in this magical place!
  10. BETTER SEX....okay, now I have your attention....but really it comes down to self perception doesn't it?.......(oh, and maybe stamina?????)
Jamie's Joke of the Month
jamie headshot

I'm always a little nervous when I ask Jamie for his joke...never quite sure what I am going to get.... This month, I took matters into my own hands...sorry...

Two women, who are dog owners, are arguing which dog is smarter.
First woman: My dog is so smart. Every morning he waits for the paperboy to come around and then he takes a newspaper and brings it to me.
Second woman: I know.
First one: How?
Second one: My dog told me.

Going Social....

It's great when we all get a chance to get together without lycra!  Last term a small but determined group of us went indoor rock climbing, and loved it!

This term, it would be great to have another event to get everyone together.  I'd love to hear from you!  Take our quick poll below, and let me know what takes your fancy....

Let's Get Social - tell us what you wanna do!

Ok, that's it!  We are glad to see you back at training this week full of energy and vitality!

Love,

Jayne
