Greetings!
Winter in Sydney means RUNNING! Over the winter months there are more organised runs than you can poke a stick at - beginning next week with the Mini-Mos and going all the way into September.
Over the past couple of years we have had many of you enter and complete some of these runs, and this year, we would love to see more!
So.....we are keen to introduce a once per week running squad. This session will help you build up your running miles so that you can hit the streets with confidence and reach some personal running milestones (perhaps even some that you didn't know you had!).
We propose to run the class on Friday mornings. Locations around Manly and Mosman will change depending on the element we are working on that day, but our 'home' will be Balmoral Oval. Our standard duration will be an hour, but over the weeks, it may be up to 1 1/2 hours to enable us to extend our distances. The 10 week course will cost $250.
The sessions will work on both running technique and drills, as well as the obvious - getting our bodies used to running good distances. We will start softly, so if you can only run for a few minutes at a time - no worries! We will work on things such as hills, soft sand, interval training, trail running and talk about important issues such as shoes and race preparation. This is a great course for anyone who is keen to run their first social race, and also for those of you who have already conquered the 8 or 10km and are now looking to step up to the next level.
Because of the cumulative nature of the squad, it will operate independently of the LWL classes - so you will not be able to use it as a make-up class.
Registration will be handled along with our normal term registration process, but for now we are keen to know if you are interested, and if a Friday would suit you.
