Start Calling Your Representatives!
Even if you can't call before 10:30cst today, begin calling today so Reps get the message that we want this out of committee and passed this year.  We won't let the delay in the Senate kill this bill this year.

You can find your representative by going to the Tennessee Legislature website (www.capitol.tn.gov) and typing in your address. If you already know who your senator is, here is the directory.

Great Job by Senator Eric Stewart!

Senator Stewart made a wonderful, impassioned speech on the Senate floor. It is very important that we thank him for championing this bill. See the speech here(Go to March 12, 2012, 5:00 session and click on SB577 under the video.)

Email Senator Stewart at sen.eric.stewart@capitol.tn.gov or call at 615-741-6694. Or if you want to send a thank-you note, his address is: 301 6th Avenue North, Suite 310A War Memorial Building, Nashville, TN 37243.

Additional thank-you's should be made to the senators who stood up and voted against the delay. Standing against delay were Senators Barnes, Berke, Burks, Finney, Ford, Harper, Haynes, Henry, Herron, Kyle, Marrero, Roberts, Stewart and Tate.

Those voting to delay  were Senators Beavers, Bell, Campfield, Crowe, Faulk, Gresham, Johnson, Kelsey, Ketron, Massey, McNally, Norris, Overbey, Ramsey, Southerland, Summerville, Tracy, Watson and Yager.

About the Scenic Vistas Protection Act

The Scenic Vistas Protection Act (SB577/HB291) would ban mountaintop removal coal mining on ridgelines above 2,000 feet in Tennessee. This would be the first ban related to mountaintop removal mining practices. We are so close to a major milestone in SOCM history.

We still need to get Governor Haslam on board also!

Send Governor Haslam an email asking him to support the Scenic Vistas Protection Act
