Arizona Copycat Bill in House Sub-committee of Finance and Senate Judiciary Committee
This week, the Arizona Copycat Bill (HB 1380) was rolled in the House Finance Ways and Means Subcommittee. It will be up once again for consideration on May 18th. The Senate version of the bill, SB 780, will be discussed in the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 16th. We must continue to push back against these harmful pieces of legislation.
Please remember that Arizona copycat legislation threatens Tennessee's reputation and drastically increases the burden on state government, local law enforcement, and small business owners. If approved these bills will create an even greater atmosphere of distrust and fear of local authorities among immigrant communities throughout the state. Many businesses are losing profits, as immigrant community members escape police authority scrutiny by staying indoors during regular business hours.
Please contact the legislators below and help create a sense of safety for people throughout the state of Tennessee.
Please Contact the members of the General Sub-committee of Finance and Ask them to Vote No on HB 1380
