Good Jobs, Green Jobs Conference
Member return to promote green jobs education
The Good Jobs, Green Jobs National Conference was a huge success for SOCM attendees. Members returned ready to educate regarding green jobs opportunities in the state and legislation needed to influence a more sustainable jobs future.
The national conference brought in thousands of attendees and included

keynote speeches from EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, NEC Director Gene Sperling, Vice President Biden's Chief Economist Jared Bernstein, and Deputy Transportation Secretary John Porcari. In addition, the Conference featured plenary panels on clean energy manufacturing, building the labor-environmental movement, and sustainable communities, as well as more than 100 workshops on a wide range of topics important to creating good, green jobs.

SOCM office moves to Knoxville
SOCM Gets New Phone Number and Address after 16 Years
SOCM transitioned its headquarters to Knoxville, Tenn. in mid
| SOCM Finance Committee member Bob Luxmoore paints the new SOCM office in Knoxville, Tenn. | February with the help of several enthusiastic SOCM volunteers. The exciting transition was made after 16 years in Lake City, Tenn.
Thanks to all of our members who helped with packing and moving. Volunteers included: Franz Raetzer, Yusef Gaither, Elam Blackman, Todd Shelton, Ethiel and Michelle Garlington, Chuck Shuford, Maureen O'Connell, Bob Luxmoore and Carol Foreman.
SOCM has called Lake City home since 1995. To usher in this historical move, SOCM will host an open house event in late March 2011.

SOCM is working to double its membership and increase its outreach for social, economic, and environmental justice work in 2011. To help us reach that larger audience and support base, SOCM is looking for you to help design a t-shirt that celebrates the rock'n 39-year-old organization SOCM has become.
SOCM will pick one winning design to be featured on a t-shirt and used in other creative ways. Up to 10 awesome graphics will also be featured on the SOCM website.
