As many of you know our company strives to makes sure that we give the proper impression to all of our clients and potential clients. Much of how we conduct ourselves goes along with a popular program that many school districts have adopted, which is called "Character Counts." If you came out for the Rock Hall MD Fourth of July Parade you would have noticed the great banners that the staff made to support this cause, and which showed the community how important this really is for our youth and adults as well. This month we are featuring an article that shows how our business follows the six pillars of character called "Our Pillars for Success." We would like to share these everyday business goals, with the hope that the communities we serve will also strive for similar goals with their children, families, and businesses, because Character does Count! Please take the time to read over this information and as always if you have any questions or comments about our newsletter please write to me at: It is great to get feed back on how we are doing! Our Pillars for Success

TRUSTWORTHINESS: We feel the need to earn your trust and confidence with the way we handle each and every business transaction. We want your opinion on how we can improve our service. The better we know the better we can serve, with the highest level of trust that each and every transaction deserves. Please always give us feedback on how we are doing. There are so many times we hear about illegal procedures that companies have mishandled your identifying information. These are the types of ID Theft that worry us the most and what people don't understand is that there are laws that are in place to protect you, and your information from getting into the wrong hands. This is just one example of why we need you to know we are the most trustworthy business to handle your secure documents.
RESPECT: We have a high standard of excellence that we hold toward our clients and business partners. We feel that we need to prove to you that we are the best choice for the job and if we don't hold up our end of the deal then we don't deserve your business. We respect your decisions and understand that we need to strive to be the best to earn your respect and business.
RESPONSIBILITY: Reliability and dependability to protect and service each client's information in the safest, most secure manner possible. This is your business, family and clients' sensitive and identifying information. We could not be entrusted with anything more important. This is why we have certified, bonded, and drug tested shredding specialists that are insured to handle your documents properly.
FAIRNESS: Fairness is the act of making sure that you pursue business avenues without cheating your customers, and also making sure that we are competitively priced without harming the reputation of our competitors. One of the largest complaints we have heard concerning pricing, is "per hour" charges. We feel this is not a fair practice and so we implemented a policy where we only charge per pound or per console. This insures that you are charged for what is being destroyed and not for our wasted time.
CARING: We care about many things here at East Coast Shredding, and one large area is our effect on the environment. We are an environmental friendly company whose product is one hundred percent recycled. Once the material has been processed through the mobile truck, it is transported to a recycling plant. These plants run the paper through additional processes then send the paper all over the world to be renewed in other products such as black top, brake pads, and all types of paper products.
For every ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper, you save:
· 17 small trees· 3 cubic yards of landfill space
· 7000 gallons of water (amount saved by producing paper from recycled material versus virgin pulp)
A typical event such as a Shred Day can help the environment dramatically for even small towns. If an event was to gather on an average day 3000 pounds of recyclable paper, that community would have saved 25 trees and 10,500 gallons of water. Caring for ones environment and the effect on your community are very important
CITIZENSHIP: As an upstanding business member of the communities we serve, we feel it is our duty and obligation to serve the public when necessary. East Coast Shredding, and her sister company East Coast Storage, have worked hard to help the communities we serve whenever possible. The company runs with a philosophy that "It's just not enough to run a business. You have to work as a part of the communities you serve. A large part of this responsibility to one's community is to help when at all possible." Some of the charity organizations that these two sister companies have helped out with include Toys for Tots with the United States Marine Corp, Rebuild Together, American Cancer Society, Soroptimist, Samaritan Group, and Shared Opportunity Service.
