The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and the UMKC Foundation are pleased to announce the formal dedication of the James B. Nutter Family Classroom in the Henry W. Bloch School of Management. The classroom was recently renovated to provide students and faculty with a start-of-the-art lecture room. The dedication ceremony takes place on April 8.

A generous gift of $250,000 from James B. Nutter Sr. and the Nutter family made this renovation possible, marking the first named classroom at the Bloch School. James B. Nutter & Company is a Kansas City-based national mortgage lender founded in 1951.

"This is the first of many changes we are making to our learning facilities at the Bloch School of Management," said Bloch School Dean Teng-Kee Tan. "As a 21st-century school of management that integrates an entrepreneurial and global mindset into all of our students, we must retool our facilities to increase participative learning and allow for a case-methods teaching model. We need the support of community members, like the Nutter family, who truly value the future of education, to make these changes happen."

James Nutter Sr. said his deep respect for Henry Bloch and the importance of education in Kansas City inspired the gift. "Education is the way our city will grow," he noted. "Everything Henry Bloch has done has been of great value, and this school is one example of the value of giving back. Henry's legacy, and the future of the Bloch School, is worth our support."

The actions of the Nutter family are a lesson in goodwill, and their generosity resonates with our students."
