NPR picks Chen Yi's CD "Sound of the Five" as Best of 2009
National Public Radio has chosen Chen Yi's "Sound of the Five," performed by Portland's "The Third Angle New Music Ensemble," as one of the 10 Best Classical CDs of 2009. Chen Yi is professor of composition at UMKC's Conservatory of Music and Dance. Read more or listen

A conversation with Clovis E. Semmes, Ph.D.
Clovis E. Semmes, professor and director of UMKC's Black Studies program, will address the African American Student Union's 19th annual Freedom Breakfast on Jan. 22. Semmes sat down for an interview in 2008 when he was visiting professor of Black Studies at UMKC. Read more

University of Missouri Board of Curators elects officers for 2010
Judith Gosney Haggard of Kennett, Mo., was elected to a one-year term as chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators during the board's meeting Dec. 11 in St. Louis. Warren K. Erdman (UMKC Trustee) of Kansas City, Mo., was elected vice chair. Read more
