No. 34 MHP X-FIT Team Makes Pit Crew Challenge Debut
Team Ready to Showcase Skills with Ragan at Wheel
Statesville, N.C. (May 16, 2012) - The No. 34 MHP X-FIT Pit Crew of Front Row Motorsports will compete for pit road bragging rights Thursday night as the team makes its debut in the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge. The contest features 24 of the top teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, pitting them head to head in a skills competition that includes carrying and changing tires, and jacking, fueling and pushing the car.
The exhibition event that helps kick off NASCAR's All-Star weekend will be held at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte at 7 p.m. ET and will air on SPEED at 8 p.m. ET. The team that emerges with the fastest time after five elimination rounds will be crowned the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge Champion. Also, the fastest crew member at each station will be crowned individual champion and receive a $10,000 cash prize.
The No. 34 MHP X-FIT Pit Crew members participating in the competition include: gas man Justin Lages of Ormond Beach, Fla.; jack man William Sturgill of Lexington, Ky., front-tire carrier A.J. Heister of Maquoketa, Iowa; front-tire changer Austin Dickey of Cleveland, Ohio; rear-tire carrier Mike Keels of Riverside, Calif.; rear-tire changer Chris Letourneau of Freedom, Maine; and second-can man Anwar Parrish of Shelby, N.C. Ike Sneed of Bakersfield, Calif., will be the team's pit crew coach.
The competition allows the team to showcase the benefits of its unique partnership with MHP (Maximum Human Performance). The performance nutrition supplement company not only sponsors Front Row Motorsports' over-the-wall crew for the entire 2012 race season but also provides expert guidance to help the crews be stronger and faster on pit road, where tenths of a second can change everything. MHP experts help formulate the team's workout regimen, set fitness goals for each team member and provide products like Power Pak Pudding and X-FIT TRAINER Pre-Workout Formula to help maximize their performance on pit road and in the gym.
Sprint Cup Series driver David Ragan will be in the cockpit to steer the MHP Power Pak Pudding Ford as the team pushes the 3,200-pound car down the competition's 40-yard "pit road."
"I'm really proud to have my No. 34 MHP guys participating in the Pit Crew Challenge," Ragan said. "They work and train really hard every week to be the best they can be. And with the help of MHP this year giving them some expert advice on nutrition and fitness, I can tell you I've definitely seen an improvement on pit road. I can't wait to see how they do Thursday night. I just have to hold the wheel straight - the rest is in their hands."
Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.pitcrewchallenge.com or by calling the
Time Warner Cable Arena box office at (800) 745-3000.
