Qualifying for Sunday's AAA Texas 500 at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway took place Friday afternoon.  A total of 46 NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers took a qualifying time for the 43 available positions.  Front Row Motorsports had two of their entries locked into Sunday's race and Friday J.J. Yeley was able to secure the No. 55 Ingersoll Rand into the event by running a lap over 191 miles per hour. Yeley led the qualifying efforts for the organization and will start 27th.

Texas Motor Speedway is a favorite track of David Gilliland. He proved that he enjoys qualifying here by averaging a lap over 190 miles per hour.  He will start 34th. Finally, Travis Kvapil and the No. 38 Long John Silver's team continues to be one of the top-10 points earners in the garage over the past month. Although they did not qualify where they hoped, Kvapil is confident he can race forward on Sunday.

Greg Biffle won his ninth career pole and will lead the field to the green flag. Reed Sorenson, David Starr and David Stremme did not qualify for the feature event.

The race will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.

"That was a pretty good lap for us.  I really enjoy coming to this track and Peter (Sospenzo) and the guys have unloaded a fast car.  The lap wasn't bad.  We worked on a few qualifying runs today and tomorrow we'll concentrate on dialing the car in for Sunday.  I feel like we should be able to run well."

Comments from No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford driver Travis Kvapil after qualifying at Texas:

"I thought we would be better than that.  It was just a bit too loose when we went out, but at least it's good in race trim.  We will just have to go back and make sure we have a good practice on Saturday and run all 500 miles on Sunday.  I feel confident that we'll be prepared to have a good race."

"We unloaded and the car was just really good all day.  You come to a track like this and you just have to be ready for some fast qualifying speeds.  This Ingersoll Rand Ford was able to deliver that today."
