The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series comes back to the one-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend for the second race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Sprint Cup.  Action got underway Friday afternoon with practice and qualifying.

Qualifying, again, was important for Front Row Motorsports and their three entries, as Travis Kvapil was attempting to lock the No. 55 machine into the event and J.J. Yeley the No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford.  With David Gilliland and Yeley having no issues during practice, they both easily locked their cars into Sunday's race.

The attention then turned to Travis Kvapil and locking the third car in.  As rain showers threatened the track during the session, a total of 40 cars took time before rain started to fall with only five cars left to qualify.  Under NASCAR rules, all cars must attempt a qualifying run for the session to be complete.  If not, speeds from the first practice session set the starting grid for the top-35 drivers.  Then the rest of the field is set by NASCAR rules that includes qualifying attempts.  Therefore, Kvapil, who had already run a speed to qualify in, would be bumped.

After a delay, NASCAR dried the track and the five cars were able to qualify, locking Kvapil in. Ryan Newman easily won another pole at the track.

Coverage of the race begins Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Comments from No. 34 Taco Bell team driver David Gilliland after qualifying at New Hampshire:

"We were just a little bit tight, but it was a pretty good lap.  J.J and Travis both had good laps too.  It shows that we brought some good cars here this weekend and I think we can have a good race.  We just need to play the strategy game and keep out of trouble."

Comments from No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford team driver J.J. Yeley after qualifying at New Hampshire:

"It wasn't bad.  The car felt good and we watched it on tape.  It looks pretty good.  It's a new body and we're pretty happy with it.  The guys have done a good job of giving us a good car here this weekend.  I like this track and think we can have a good run on Sunday."
