The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series headed west this weekend to the wine country of Sonoma, Calif., for the series' first road-course race of the season. Unfortunately, only one of Front Row Motorsports' entries will be competing in Sunday's event at Infineon Raceway, as Tony Ave and the No. 38 Long John Silver's team failed to qualify for the race.
Ave and the team struggled to find speed during Friday's midday practice and did not pick up their lap times enough in the afternoon qualifying session to make the starting field. Missing Sunday's race will be a setback in points for the team trying to climb back into the top-35 in the owner standings.
David Gilliland and the Taco Bell team, however, had a strong day on the 1.99-mile course. The No. 34 Ford ended the practice session as the ninth-quickest car on the track. Gilliland later qualified himself into the starting field in 29th.
Joey Logano earned his second Cup career pole and first at Infineon, edging out Jamie McMurray, who will start second. Ave was the only driver not to qualify for the race.
Saturday brings two practice sessions for the Taco Bell team to continue getting their car race-ready. Gilliland will also run the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race on Saturday afternoon, giving him some extra laps on the 10-turn course.
Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 will air on TNT, with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Comments from Taco Bell Ford team driver David Gilliland after qualifying at Sonoma:
"We came here pretty well prepared. We had a couple good days testing and it paid off. Our Taco Bell Ford Fusion was fast in practice and we had an OK qualifying lap. I'm not too worried about starting position, though, actually because this race always comes down to pit strategy in the end. So, I'm excited. We're going to work on our car a little more tomorrow, get it really dialed in, and I think we're going to be in really good shape for Sunday. I can't wait."

Comments from Long John Silver's Ford team driver Tony Ave after failing to qualify at Sonoma:
"Obviously we're disappointed. We struggled to find speed here today. The team worked hard all day and we tried to throw some changes at it for qualifying to give us what we needed but we came up short. Feel badly that we're going home. I was hoping to give Front Row a good run on Sunday."
