Recent years have seen much chaos and confusion in the COTS world.  Changing from the safe and well-known world of parallel buses to the 'wild-west' of serial interconnects has been extremely difficult for most COTS users and standard-format system designers.  BittWare has believed for several years that the days of parallel buses were behind us; therefore we've been working hard at architecting and implementing serial based boards for some time now. This hasn't been easy, but I believe we've climbed the learning curve and are much better for it.

High-speed serial interconnects open up a wealth of possibilities for implementing signal processing systems, and BittWare has taken advantage of this on our new FPGA-based boards. FPGAs enable our boards to adapt to these new and emerging formats while leveraging a single, well-optimized common architecture.  Now that OpenVPX is a reality, VPX is simply the logical platform for us to deliver our next generation architectures on a rugged format.

BittWare's GT-3U-VPX
BittWare's GT-3U-VPX (GT3X) is a ruggedizable 3U VPX board designed for demanding multi-processor based applications.

The GT3X features a large Altera Stratix II GX FPGA and one cluster of four ADSP-TS201S TigerSHARC processors from Analog Devices. The board's front panel interface supplies four channels of high-speed SerDes tranceivers, 10/100 Ethernet, and RS-232; and its extensive back panel interface supports PCI Express, sRIO, GigE, and 10 GigE.
