Worship this Sunday
This Sunday's music: We will hear our Children's Choir singing an Appalachian folk tune, "Oh, Every Morn". Our Chancel Choir will present both an Introit and an Anthem by Charles Callahan. Charles Raines will present a Prelude by Healy Willan and Offertory music by Loius Vierne.
Pastor Tony will reflect onGenesis 32:22-31 and Luke 18:1-8 in his sermon, "Wrestling with God".
Adult Forum: A Discussion on Ballot Questions 2 & 3
There will be two very important proposals on the November 2 state election ballot. A "No" vote Question 2 would keep in place the existing state law ("Chapter 40B") that allows developers to obtain a comprehensive permit to build housing in local communities provided the development includes sufficient low- or moderate- income housing. A "No" vote on Question 3 would maintain the state sales and use tax at the current 6.25%, rather than reducing it to to 3%. Both of these ballot initiatives could have serious repercussions for our state and local services. We invite everyone to come to an educational forum discuss these ballot initiatives and their possible implications. No matter where you stand on these issues, let's explore them together. Please join us at 11:30 in the Eliot Church parlor. There will be a Music Commission meeting at 11:30 in Fellowship Hall. Sr. Youth Retreat October 16 - 17 The Senior Youth Sunday School class will be on Monhegan Island, Maine as part of their exploration of spiritual places and practices. Students attending are Caileigh Byrne, Rachel Hargreaves, Gaby Mata, Lizzie Reid, Danny Flanagan, and Gil Pettingell. Their chaperons are Margaret Shue, Amy McMahon, and Pastor Karla. They will leave on Saturday, and will return Sunday evening.
