November 2009 Membership Update
be inducted as a founding member
Greetings!

When we began the conversations here a few months ago- we had no idea what an immense response we would find-  in people willing to make the effort to come for the first conference- in interest in starting local chapters- and in people following the conversations on line.

There is a great need in the church for this sort of spirituality, that is grounded in the sacraments and creed and is open and hopeful- and among us clergy there is a need for a forum that is neither competitive nor issue driven.    It seems to me that the local chapter will find something of its own life- setting a pattern of gathering that makes sense for whatever distances are involved.  From what I have heard, some meetings might take some to read together- say one of Augustine's sermons on the psalms- or part of Ramsay's the Gospel and the Catholic Church- or whatever seems most engaging- and simply read it together and reflect on it-  others might have someone make a presentation as a beginning point for conversation-

I suspect the main thing will be to focus on what draws us deeper into the tradition- not what puts us on opposite sides of a question- and what might awaken our own sense of relationship with God in Christ Jesus-  so that it touches our work as priests- but also takes us as human beings seeking to know and serve God.  We are a society of catholic priests- but we need to attend to our spiritual lives as baptized Christians as well.

When we gather in a few days, we will indeed be very aware of brothers and sisters who are with us in spirit and in commitment to this project- and you will be in our prayers- and we trust we will be in yours.

Yours in Christ,

David Cobb+
Convener

join theSCP and be a part of our inaugural conference...in absentia

joincrossWith the Inaugural Conference only a few days away, we are reminding those who plan on joining but have yet to submit their membership forms that there is time to do so.

Those who join before the inaugural conference will be listed as founding members of the Society.

You and your ministry will be included in our prayers of the day and you will be inducted alongside those present at the conference when we join with the Rev'd Canon Andrew Nunn of Southwark, Rector General of the Society.

This induction will be fully celebrated when you meet with your local chapter.

We rejoice in our life and ministry together with members and supporters across the Episcopal Church, the Anglican Church of Canada, and the worldwide Anglican Communion.   We thank you for your interest, time, and energy!
