Winter is Coming...Is Your Vehicle Ready?
This is Fall Car Care Season. It's the perfect time for Auto Haus to take a few preventative measures to get your vehicle ready for the unpredictable winter weather in Virginia.
Statistics show that over 50% of drivers own vehicles with some sort of maintenance issue that affects safety and performance. These issues often include underinflated tires, dirty motor oil, low fluid levels, and more.
A thorough inspection of your vehicle during Fall Car Care Season will go a long way toward ensuring the safety and reliability of your vehicle when temperatures drop and severe winter weather strikes. Regular maintenance also makes economic sense because it extends the life of your vehicle and helps you avoid costly repairs down the road.
At Auto Haus, we employ the best Service Technicians around to work on your vehicle. We have FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIANS on-site and they can handle all you vehicle's repairs from major overhauls to simple oil changes. You read that correctly...even your oil change at Auto Haus is done by a Factory Trained Technician. We don't use unqualified and inexperienced oil changers like most of the area lube shops do. At Auto Haus, you always get our best service! Our professional Service Technicians recommend 10 basic maintenance inspections to check for problem areas and to keep your vehicle safely operating at optimum level. To achieve that optimum level, we will:
1. Check all your vehicle's fluids for proper levels, viscosity and cleanliness. This includes engine oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid, as well as, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze/coolant.
2. Check the hoses and belts to make sure they are not cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or showing signs of excessive wear.
3. Check the charging system for proper output and ensure your battery has the proper starting power. We also make sure battery terminal connections are clean, tight and corrosion-free.
4. Check the brake system including the brake lines, brake linings, and brake rotors and/or brake drums. We look for cracks, uneven wear, warping, and more.
5. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and to make sure its secure. Specifically searching for damaged and/or broken supports or hangers, exhaust leaks, and broken welds. Exhaust leaks can be dangerous and must be corrected without delay.
6. Take a test drive to listen and feel for unusual noises, vibrations or odors. Our technicians are so honed into the proper way a vehicle should sound and drive that they can often diagnose a problem with your vehicle just by driving it.
7. Check the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system because proper heating and cooling performance is critical for interior comfort and safety. It's imperative that your vehicle's defroster work properly during the winter months because vehicle defrosters often use a combination of heating and cooling to clear your windshield.
8. Inspect the steering and suspension system including shock absorbers, struts and chassis parts such as ball joints, tie rod ends and other related components.
9. Check the tires for proper tire pressure and tread depth, as well as, for bulges, bald spots, and uneven wear. Uneven wear indicates a need for a wheel alignment.
10. Check the wipers and lighting so that you can see and be seen. We also will ensure that all interior and exterior lighting is working properly. We want to make sure you can see clearly when driving day or night.
In conjunction with the Fall Car Care Season, we are providing a COMPLIMENTARY vehicle inspection throughout the month of November for anyone who makes an appointment and requests it. For more information call our Service Department at 757-898-1200.
