Summer is just about here and the heat index is rising.  Now is the time to check the efficiency of your AC system.  Air conditioning systems in today's modern vehicles are smaller and more efficient compact units that require smaller amounts of Freon.  Therefore, it's important to make sure your vehicle's A/C system is fully charged in order for it to function properly.  Also, the A/C drains inside the evaporator need to be clean regularly so the condensation can escape and drain out from underneath the vehicle.  On a hot and humid day do you notice a steady dripping of clean water coming from the drains under your vehicle?  If not, that is a good indication of blocked drains.  Do you notice your carpets are getting wet or hear a sloshing sound from your center console?  If you do, that is also a good indication the drains are blocked.  Another item to check is proper air flow inside the vehicle.  Does the air flow through your vents with the correct velocity?  We can check that.  When your cabin filters get dirty the flow of air out of the vents decreases significantly, thereby reducing cooling efficiency.  Also, does the air coming from your vents smell a little odd?  It's important to be aware that mold can actually grow inside your evaporator and enter the vehicle's cabin every time you use the A/C.  We carry special chemicals that can be injected and/or sprayed through the vent system to kill the mold and improve the air quality.
