Congratulations to Crystal Puhrmann, winner of the fifth annual Andy Arrants Memorial Scholarship. Mr. and Mrs. Arrants, as well as Andy's sister, Jenna, were on hand to deliver the check, which pays for Crystal's supply kit. A big thank you goes to the Arrants family for providing this scholarship to our students every year, and a hearty pat on the back to Crystal!

Featured Projects: Extreme Boards

Extreme Boards

Second-year students are challenged with designing graphics for extreme sports boards (skateboards, snowboards, surfboards, etc.) and then designing a magazine advertisement to accompany the boards. This assignment has been one of the students' favorites for years, and it shows in their creative solutions!

Pictured above are boards and the accompanying ads created by CC students; from top to bottom they are:

What does the company do? Sandhills Publishing is an information processing company. Our diverse range of products includes trade publications, as well as consumer computer magazines.

What does the graduate do?
I'm a senior designer who leads the design team on two national publications from start to finish. I mostly work in InDesign and print, but I also see the publication transferred to other media such as our new digital editions on the iPad and the Web.

From the DirectorKim Guyer
We've already started the school year with a bang, and I can't wait to see new artwork on these blank walls!

The start of school is always fun - that new box of pastels (none of them are broken!), sharp pencils (with the erasers still intact!), and getting to see friends after a long summer. Here's to a successful school year for students and teachers!

High school seniors, let us know if you are interested in pursuing a career in graphic design and advertising. Classes for next year begin on August 12, 2013.

Sincerely,
