First Day of College Classes Begin!

The school year was off and running on Monday, August 8, as students from five states converged to begin their artistic careers at the Creative Center. While spirits are high, so are the expectations, and students wasted no time tackling their new year of instruction and training. Pictured are first-year students beginning on a still life drawing project.

2011 Andy Arrants Evan Dooley
Memorial Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Evan Dooley from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, for winning the 2011 Andy Arrants Memorial Scholarship.  Evan was selected from 13 applicants based on his exceptional artwork and essay.

Andy Arrants (1986-2007) was a graphic art student at the Creative Center. He was a gifted tattoo artist, as well as an avid fine artist. This scholarship is dedicated to Andy's memory and created with the intent of assisting students who are pursuing similar interests as Andy.

Magazine Ads

One of the most commonly recognized types of advertising is the magazine advertisement. While magazine ads are common, memorable ones are not. Students are pushed to create concepts and imagery that will attract viewers' attention, causing them to remember the ad long enough to purchase the product or service. Many times, magazine ads are one of several types of advertising within a campaign.
