First Day Supplies

First Day Supplies

Welcome to the class of 2012! Our students officially started classes on Monday, August 9 and began their week with the option to purchase an art supply kit. The Creative Center and Blick Art Supplies have offered this kit option for several years as a great way to get supplies to the students at a drastically discounted rate. New supplies = one less thing to worry about = more time to spend on art projects!

Scholarship Recipient

Melanie Rodgers was the 2010 recipient of the Andy Arrants Memorial Scholarship. As the winner, Melanie received her art supply kit for free (approximately $500 value)! Thanks to the Arrants family for their generosity and support of the Creative Center students!

Andy Arrants (1986-2007) was a graphic art student at the Creative Center. He was also a gifted tattoo artist as well as an avid fine artist. This scholarship is dedicated to Andy's memory and created with the intent of assisting students who are pursuing similar interests as Andy.

Project of the Month - Label Designs

In their second year, students are given the challenge of re-designing an existing product's label. Once the re-design is complete, students must then create a physical example (a mock-up) of the new label on the bottle or other container. These mock-ups are excellent ways to show a client what the finished product will look like.

From the Director

Well, the excitement of the school year has begun. We are truly looking forward to all our new and returning students creating some exceptionally creative work this school year. I can't wait to brag about all the awards that they will win!

Take advantage of these last weeks of summer. With all this heat, it's strange to think that fall is just around the corner!

For those of you entering your senior year of high school this year, let us know if you are interested in pursuing a career in graphic design and advertising. Classes for next year start on August 8, 2011.

Sincerely,
GuyerSig
