The Summer Seminar was a Hit!

Summer HS Seminar 7-10

Summer HS Seminar 7-10

Summer HS Seminar 7-10

In June, the Creative Center held our first summer seminar for high school art teachers and guidance counselors entitled, "Understanding Careers in Graphic Design and Advertising." We were honored to have very enthusiastic teachers and counselors attend, and we had a great seminar, with lots of information and ideas exchanged between the teachers/counselors and the professional designers and illustrators present.

For those interested, we have decided to host another seminar next summer, so keep a look out for information in these eNewsletters!

Some great comments we received:

"This was fantastic! It was definitely worth the drive! Please do it again!"

"Great seminar in terms of what is coming in the future - lots of information to update us on the field."

"Thanks for treating me as a professional on an educator budget! I appreciate the inspiring day!"

"I am more knowledgeable about graphic design and will be able to guide my students in that career."

"As a counselor, I will use everything from today when helping my students plan for college."

"This was a highly useful seminar - well worth the trip; I will come again."

Project of the Month - Children's Book Illustrations

Children's Book Illustration

Children's Book Illustration

Creative Center students get a taste of children's book illustration before the end of their first year. Students are given the task of writing a childhood memory and then providing the illustration in a book format. This project provides some initial training in scanning and color correcting original artwork in the computer, as well as learning to combine copy with images in a digital layout.
