Project of the Month
Second-year students work on outdoor media options in addition to their print and web training. Billboards are a great way to practice designing for ads that have high volume, but have a very short time frame in which to view the ad itself.
Projects shown were designed by (from the top) Sarah Thull from Plattsmouth High School in Plattsmouth, NE; Peter Dutkiewicz from Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln, NE; Jessica Teel from Westside High School in Omaha, NE; and Scott Durrie from Mt. Michael Benedictine High School in Elkhorn, NE.

Graduate of the Month
Robert Harness BFA '08 Graphic Designer SoftTouch, Inc. Omaha, NE www.softtouch.com
High School: Fairbury Junior/ Senior High School, Fairbury, NE
What does the company do? Makes software for special needs children.
What does the graduate do? I create ads and animate characters, illustrate books, create symbols and images, design logos, design for the web, use basic coding, user interfaces, and update older software with a newer look. I usually work in Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash. I believe Firebug is a godsend; design blogs and DeviantArt are muses.
