Scott Williams

 Principal Scott Williams

I am sure many of you are busy trying to  relax, enjoy your family, and take a vacation before the start of the fast approaching school year.  Some of you wonderful over-achievers have already purchased school supplies, uniforms, and backpacks.  Here at CFS we are very busy sorting books, rearranging classrooms, meeting new families, and working in the midst of some building renovations.  Some of these renovations include:  new tile and carpet in the foyers and lunch room, expanding the first grade classroom, repairing sidewalks, resurfacing the parking lot, and bringing in a multiclassroom modular building that will serve middle school students in 2012-2013.  (This year the building will be used by the CF Church children's ministry.)  We are also doing some upgrades to the playground.

Please note the following:

We did not have the necessary number of families willing to commit to the hot lunch program proposed by Upper Crust Catering to proceed with that this year.  We looked at other providers and felt that the Upper Crust proposal was the most suitable for CFS.  We may revisit this proposal next spring.  Our seniors will continue offering weekly pizza and sub sandwich lunches.

We still have a teacher's aide position available.  Please feel free to contact the school office if you or someone you know may be interested in interviewing for a part-time, morning position.

We are also interviewing for an Individual Instruction Center teacher.  Mrs. Lindquist, who has served in our IIC for the past several years is continuing part-time; however, we are hiring a full-time teacher as her replacement.  This position requires a bachelor's degree and a teaching certificate is preferred.  Candidates must also be able to teach high school math, particularly algebra and geometry.

Please plan to attend the Parent Orientation scheduled for 7:00 PM, Monday, August 15th.  You will enjoy meeting teachers and other parents.  You will also learn about some important school guidelines, your student's daily schedule, and volunteer opportunities.  We look forward to seeing you!

HELP NEEDED:  "Fix-Up The PLAYGROUND"

Our regular maintenance crew is working diligently this summer with numerous school classroom and building improvement projects, so we are organizing a "Fix-up The Playground" morning for Saturday, August 13th from 8:30 AM to 12:00 noon.  Parent volunteers are needed to prepare our playground for the new school year.  Our primary job will be to apply wood treatment/sealer to the wooden playground structures.  Therefore, anyone who can handle a paintbrush is especially welcome.  In addition, we may be redistributing some of the pea gravel, cutting weeds, etc.  Your assistance is vital and very much appreciated.  Please contact the school office at 445-8565 or office@cfsknights.org if you can help...and bring a brush!
We are adding a major piece of playground equipment this year and it will be arriving in September.  We are looking forward to this large, multi-child swing...which I am sure the children will enjoy!
