Outliers and CFS

OutliersWe will soon be re-enrolling current CFS students for next year. Being mindful of this, I was particularly taken by a conversation I had with Susan Crepeau, a CFS parent, who also works in the Christian Fellowship Bookstore.  She told me about a book that her husband, Dewey, was reading and how it relates to Christian education.  I asked her if Dewey would write a brief review of the book for me, which he did, and which I am sharing with you.  Thanks, Dewey.

Annual Fund Generosity
Current contributions received for the CFS Annual Fund Drive are over $43,000.  Although a specific goal amount was not set, this amount exceeds the amount received at this time last year by $8,000.  The Annual Fund is an essential resource as it allows CFS to provide tuition assistance to students with financial need, helps support the CFS teachers' retirement program, and  provides for school programs and equipment not met by tuition and fees.  The generosity of so many supporters provides both encouragement and further responsibility for CFS to renew its commitment to provide a  secure, loving, and quality educational  environment for all students.  A huge "Thanks" is due to everyone who participated in this year's Annual Fund with a reminder that it is not too late to contribute.  THANK YOU CFS SUPPORTERS!

Teachers with Babies

Congratulations to CFS social studies teacher, Todd Barnett, and wife, Ellen, and CFS art teacher, Jill Hinsch, and husband, Chris, who are parents of new baby boys.

Todd and Ellen received guardianship of Luke Michael in November 2009 and look forward to finalizing adoption proceedings in May 2010.  Luke was born prematurely in August and spent his first three months in a neonatal intensive care unit at St. Louis Children's Hospital.  Luke is now in good health and is making excellent developmental progress with regular physical therapy sessions.

Jill Hinsch gave birth to Daniel Christian on January 18th.  Daniel weighed 8 lb. 5 oz. and is doing great.  Ms. Hinsch is planning to  return to CFS in a part-time capacity on March 8th and full-time on April 12.
