Thankful for Serving and Generous Hearts |
|
On behalf of the students and staff at CFS, I want to extend a huge "Thank You" to the many parent volunteers who made the CFS Chicken Dinner and Silent Auction a great success. Over 350 people enjoyed great fellowship and a delicious dinner provided by Peach Tree Catering. In addition, over $6,000 was raised through the silent auction, including donations to purchase roll-up wall maps for the 5th and 6th grade classrooms, a projector system for the social studies room, and a camera for the yearbook club. Although there were too many wonderful volunteers to name in this limited space, I must recognize Kathy Gysbers, who oversaw the silent auction and was directly responsible for many of the exciting items available for bidding. Thank you, Kathy. Thanks also to you generous donors and bidders who have blessed our students and teachers through your financial participation. May God continue to display His provision and multiply many times over His blessings to those who have blessed us. |

Operation Christmas Child |
Once again CFS preschool and elementary students are participating in Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse. CFS children, with help from their parents, will be decorating shoeboxes and filling them with gifts and school supplies. After the boxes are delivered to CFS, along with a $5 donation to help cover shipping costs, the boxes will be sent to a central warehouse where Samaritan's Purse will add gospel storybooks. The boxes will then be sent around the world to needy children. What a wonderful Christmas gift and Christian witness! Thank you parents and CFS students for bringing great joy to so many children who are probably receiving their only Christmas gift through this program and even more importantly are hearing the good news of Jesus Christ. |

Field Trips Galore |
Field trips are an important part of the CFS curriculum and are designed to bring learning to life in fun and unique ways. Exploring history, science, art, music, and other subjects outside of the classroom brings lasting memories and reinforces what is taught in the classroom. Some of the field trips the different grades and classes have taken or will be taking this fall include:
-
Preschool - Walk About Acres, Shelter Gardens
-
Kindergarten - Fire station, Peachtree Farms
-
1st grade - Peachtree Farms, Runge Conservation Center, Candlelight Lodge Retirement Center
-
2nd grade - Walk About Acres
-
3rd grade - Shryocks Corn Maze and Farm
-
3rd - 6th grade - TRYPS production of "Scrooge"
-
5th grade - Rock Bridge State Park
-
6th grade - UM Museum of Anthropology
-
7th grade - Sanitary Landfill and Recovery Facility
-
Art I & II - Nelson-Atkins Musuem of Art
CFS is indebted to the many parent volunteers who assist as chaperones and drivers for field trips. More trips are planned for the winter and spring. |
