Gaura lindheimeri 'Siskiyou Pink'
Perennial, native to Southwest. Grows 2 1/4 - 4ft high.
Stalkless leaves.
Branching flower spikes bear many 1-in.-long pink blossoms that open from buds closely set on stems.
Long blooming period, with only a few blossoms opening up at a time.
Plant in full sun. Fairly drought tolerant.

October of 2011! We can't believe it's upon us already. With less than 2 weeks remaining in our 2011 season, we are excited to feature this month's "going-ons" in the Garden.
Make A Difference Day is October 22nd! Do you know someone who has, or have YOU been looking for an opportunity to volunteer? Please check out our Make A Difference Day column by clicking here!
In this last month of September, Ohme Gardens has welcomed guests not only from every state between Hawaii and New York, but from countries such as Japan, Germany, Canada, the UK, Scotland, and Russia (among others). We offer a Guest Book for everyone to sign on their way out of the Garden, so as a fun add-on to our Newsletter, we'd like to start sharing some of their notes in a column entitled "Guest Book Expressions".
The Gardens are open to the public 9am to 6pm every day through October 16th, 2011!! Have you not had a chance to visit the Gardens before? Check out our video "A Walk through the Gardens" by clicking on the YouTube box below.
The 2012 Event Calendar is filling up quickly! If you are looking to book a wedding or event for next year, make sure to call early. You can read more about Weddings at Ohme Gardens here.
It's a beautiful time to be in the Wenatchee Valley and watch the colors transform. We are grateful to the Ohme family for creating a beautiful birds-eye-view of a haven to enjoy it from, and here's to sharing it with you too! The last day of the season is Sunday, October 16th, 2011.

Make A Difference Day |

Make A Difference Day at Ohme Gardens October 22nd, 2011 8am - 1pm
After Ohme Gardens wraps up the 2011 season, the community of Wenatchee will be observing national Make A Difference Day!
Help make a difference in our local Garden! We need volunteers to help with trail maintenance, prep areas for next spring, clean up flower beds, fern maintenance, and much more.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please bring gardening gloves and your friends!

| Volunteer Opportunities | | 20 Hours = A Season's Pass! Our valued volunteers roll up their sleeves and help us put our best foot forward.
Numerous volunteer opportunities exist at the Gardens. Volunteers who commit to a minimum of 20 hours of service over the course of the season receive a season pass to the Gardens.
Volunteer Opportunities include (but are not limited to): event set-up/take-down, re-pot starter plants, propagate plants, nursery maintenance, planting, deadheading and weeding. The next Friends Society get-together will be Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 at 4pm at Ohme Gardens. We will be training Friends to be "Make A Difference Day" supervisors for the big day!
We'd like to give a special welcome to newly elected board officers! Thank you all for your time, unique talents and personalities that each of you bring to the table!!

It's history in the making, and this program is blooming with the love and attention from it's local supporters. Please consider assisting the Ohme Garden's Friends Society in putting their best foot forward in 2012!
Established in 2008, this non-profit corporation's Mission Statement is: "To perpetuate Ohme Gardens for the enjoyment and education of all visitors."
The Society is governed by a board of directors and is an all-volunteer organization. It plays a key role in the financial stability and long-term viability of the gardens. For more information, click here.

A Season's Pass provides excellent, season-long benefits for you, and enduring benefits for Ohme Gardens.
As a self-supporting, not-for-profit venue, we do not receive any tax revenue for support.
We count on the generous support of pass holders, sponsors, friends, donors and volunteers to provide the essential funds and assistance we need to care for the Gardens.
Memberships are good for one year from date of purchase. Season's Passes are not transferable.

2012 Weddings | | Now is the PERFECT Time to Book for 2012!!
 The 2012 Wedding calendar is filling up fast! The Gardens will be open April 15th through October 15th of next year and we have both daytime and evening wedding sites available for both ceremonies and receptions!
Call and set up an appointment with our Garden Director for a site visit if you'd like to see it for yourself before booking the date!
