Numerous volunteer opportunities exist at the Gardens. Volunteers who commit to a minimum of 20 hours of service over the course of the season receive a season pass to the Gardens.
Volunteer Opportunities include (but are not limited to): event set-up/take-down, re-pot starter plants, propagate plants, nursery maintenance, planting, deadheading and weeding. | Season's Passholders & Sponsors | | Support Your Local Legacy
Your Season's Pass provides excellent, season-long benefits for you, and enduring benefits for Ohme Gardens. As a self-supporting, not-for-profit venue, we do not receive any tax revenue for support. We count on the generous support of pass holders, sponsors, friends, donors and volunteers to provide the essential funds and assistance we need to care for the Gardens. Memberships are good for one year from date of purchase. Season's Passes are not transferable.
More specifically, funds from this year's season passes will go towards the Informational Kiosk and panels, located at the Entrance to the Gardens. The panels will display information about the history and plants of Ohme Gardens.

Welcome to the Ohme Gardens e-Newsletter, thank you for subscribing!
July is our most active month with a load of summer events, weddings and the height of our Tourist Season. We're kicking off the month with our 2011 Subaru Music Series, now on Friday evenings beginning July 8th and running through August 5th. The ever-popular Ohme Wine and Food Gala, which is an annual event every second Saturday of July, is on July 9th this year. And the always fun Wells House Players present Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream Tuesday through Thursday evening on July 19th, 20th and 21st.
We have new permanent pathway lighting now for evening events! This lighting will allow guests to get from the event lawns to the parking lot safely. Prior to this permanent lighting, we had to set-up temporary lighting for all evening events. On June 25th, 27 volunteers offered their time and effort to help with the project installation. Daniel Poulson coordinated the installation portion of this project for his Eagle Scout Project. Bonnie Orr, president of the Ohme Gardens Friends Society (OGFS), wrote a successful grant to the Community Foundation of NCW and the OGFS members sold raffle tickets to raise the funds needed for this project. Sincere thanks to all who made this project possible.

Please plan to attend the events we have lined up for July, and have a wonderful summer!

The Wells House Players present: Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream
July 19th, 20th, & 21st (
Tues, Wed, and Thursday)
7:00pm-8:30pm

This is the 18th year of the funniest Shakespeare in the valley, and the 5th performance at Ohme Gardens.

This year's show is always an audience favorite; a comedy set in the forest outside of Athens and features confused lovers, a man with a donkey's head and the King and Queen of the fairies. Shakespeare couldn't have imagined a better place to see it all than Ohme Gardens.

| Gardening Tips for July | |
- What do we sometimes love the most when the weather gets HOT? ... Shade! Here's some food for thought: Flowering Trees for Zone 5!
- An interesting article on Mosquito Prevention.
- Check sprinklers and drip systems to make sure that all outlets are working correctly. (Source)
- Don't forget to keep up with your watering, especially as the very hot weather sets in. If you don't water enough, roots will stay near the surface, making them even more prone to the heat. An inch of water a week is a good rule of thumb, so don't just spritz, water deeply to keep those roots digging deeper. (Source)
- Lastly, sit back and enjoy your Garden!! What's all your work for if there's no lawn chair to sit in and enjoy the beauty? :) Enjoy!!
