Greetings!
"An oasis in the sky" was the quote the Ohme family made famous in national magazine publications some years back. The tall evergreen trees provide pockets of cool deep shade from the hot summer sun. You can relax on the stone benches and pass the day staring aimlessly at trickling waterfalls and tranquil pools as the birds and dragonflies maneuver their way through the garden levels. The mazes of pathways force you to choose a way as you discover the views and features that each particular pathway has to offer. Another favorite activity of families is lying on the cool shaded lawns as the Monarch butterflies float seamlessly amongst the evergreens, catching the thermal air drafts. Summer is just a great time to visit, bring out-of-town quests, or book an evening event for a special occasion! The month of July came and went. The Gardens showcased the following events: The Eighth Annual Wine & Food Gala
Subaru Summer Music Series The Wells House Players -Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost Numerous evening dinner events and weddings

The Totem Pole Lodge
The Totem Pole Lodge was built in the 1940s.
When Herman would design his structures he never wrote down a plan, it was always in his head. The gnarly burled logs used in the rustic design gave this lodge its name. Other earlier names for the lodge were the "Tea House" and "Lookout Pavilion". The lodge was used for family picnics and gatherings. The lodge comes complete with hand carved chairs and tables and a stone fireplace. Today the Totem Pole Lodge is used for weddings, receptions, luncheons, art classes and business meetings.

About Tastebuds Stepping into Tastebuds is like visiting the Wenatchee version of "Cheers". From the moment you walk through the doors, you'll feel the hectic world outside disappear as you take in the delicious aromas, welcoming faces and relaxing atmosphere. Our Jiffy Java customers wanted a place to sit, relax and enjoy their coffee. And as it turned out, one of our loyal customers owns the Mission Street Plaza, suggesting that it could be a great location for our second shop. We also decided we needed to add a service that would allow our customers to stay later than normal-so we added a wine list. The ultimate goal at Tastebuds is to pamper you with great wine and coffee in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Tastebuds is here to answer all of your questions, and to make your experience exceed all expectations.

August Gardening Tips
Plants and trees that provide color in the month of August include Crape Myrtles, Pee Gee Hydrangeas, Viburnums, Hypericum and Butterfly Bush. Check all plants, especially newly planted ones, for water on a regular basis. Water deeply and thoroughly as needed. Spruce up your landscape with beautiful color in containers and hanging baskets. Be sure to use potting mix when planting and a water-grabbing polymer to reduce the frequency of watering. Daffodils and tulips should be fertilized in early to mid-August.
If your lawn is in bad shape due to drought stress, insects, weeds or other reasons and you are considering a total renovation, August is the time to get started. If you want to prevent broadleaf weeds such as Chickweed and Henbit next spring, but you would still like to seed the lawn this fall, apply a weed preventer in early August. By applying this product now, you will be able to seed in late September or early October.

"The grounds are quiet, restful, and not dependent on formal floral displays... Breathtaking views of the Columbia River Valley below can be seen through cedar and fir trees, now more than 70 years old... It is a photographer's paradise." ~ Northwest Travel Magazine |
