ABT National Training Curriculum at PDT

PDT continues to expand its incorporation of the ABT National Training Curriculum and it's accompanying Capezio products.

In keeping with PDT's mission to provide the highest quality training in the region,

PDT Director, Risa Kaplowitz is continuing the process of eventually having all of it's ballet classes use the ABT National Training Curriculum as its core structure. Ms. Kaplowitz notes, "ABT's approach is to train dancers in the unmannered, authentic way for which PDT is known. I believe this curriculum provides the tools for teaching the un-stylized development of muscle memory, which enables the students to grow into dancers capable of adapting to many forms of dance and choreography." PDT's new ballet instructors, Nora Cotter and Brian Reeder are fully certified for all levels, In February 2011, Ms. Kaplowitz will continue next level training and Maura Ryan will begin her certification process in the summer.

PDT will slowly begin transitioning leotard uniforms to conform to ABT's authorized Capezio uniforms in preparation for student examinations in 2012. PDT is now an authorized Capezio vendor, which will enable us to provide our families with convenient dancewear accessability and Bunhead products such as those hard-to-find hair pins, hair nets, and toe padding for pointe shoes. Take a look, too, at our body warm-ups (good for long rehearsal days), leg warmers (good for beginning of class), and young dancer skirts (highly recommended for our youngest dancers to aid in correct arm placement).
