Pointe Shoes
Rachel Ackerman

It was always my dream,
if you know what I mean,
to dance on my toes,
in really big shows.

In June of '08,
I was given the date,
to purchase my shoes.
It was really great news.

At first it was hard,
that caught me off guard.
Now I dance on my toes,
and even with pros!

Greetings!

Happy New Year!  We look forward to sharing some exciting news with you.

First, PDT Studio welcomes its newest instructor, Christina Johnson.  In keeping with PDT's commitment to the highest quality of dance education, we are so pleased that Ms. Johnson, a former principal dancer with Dance Theater of Harlem, will join us.  She will be teaching the Ballet 4 and Conservatory Program classes on Saturdays.

Second, despite the freezing temperatures, it is already time to begin thinking about summer programs.  PDT's nationally recognized ballet intensive will be holding auditions this month in Princeton and in Maryland.  Please read the article below for more information.

Finally, please take a look at the several workshops, auditions and performances happening over the next few months.  We hope to see you there!

Warm wishes,
Risa Kaplowitz & Susan Jaffe

PDT SUMMER INTENSIVE                  June 28 - July 30
Becoming A BallerinaAudition
January 16 2:00 pm at PDT
January 17 2:30 pm at Maryland Youth Ballet

This extraordinary summer ballet program will have three levels - appropriate for ages 10-19 (Prep for Pointe - Pre Professional).  It is not necessary for current PDT students to audition but we advise getting in your registration form soon so you will have a spot in this limited capacity intensive.  It has been said that PDT's SI offers one of the best programs in the nation in terms of individual attention, detailed instruction, and the opportunity for enormous improvements.  This year's special guest teachers include: Stephanie Saland (Former Principal Dancer with NYCB), Roy Kaiser (Current Artistic Director of PA Ballet) and Michael Shannon (Resident Choreographer for Configurations).  Boarding is offered at the Hun School for ages 13 and older and in host homes for younger students.
Directors' News

Susan Jaffe, Co-Director of PDT and DanceVision Inc., will have two of her works showcased in the next few months.  The first may be seen at the Princeton University Spring Dance Festival on Feb 19th-21st at the Berlind Theater.  The second will be shown at the YAGP Gala at CIty Center on March 26th, in which she will choreograph a pas de deux on ABT dancers, MIsty Copeland and Blaine Hoven.
