Dining Out For Life
Thursday, April 29th
Thursday, April 29th marks the one-day fundraiser where nearly 3,000 restaurants in over fifty cities across the U.S. and Canada participate by donating a generous percentage of proceeds from the day's meals to a local AIDS service organization.  Money raised in Tulsa stays in Tulsa and benefits H.O.P.E.!  Agency programs include prevention education about HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and other infections, the only statewide 24-hour HIV/STD hotline, and the only free, anonymous testing and counseling facility in northeastern Oklahoma. To learn more about H.O.P.E. please visit www.hopetesting.org, to learn more about Dining Out for Life and see a complete list of participating restaurants, please visit www.diningoutforlife.com or call 918-749-8378.

Namoli Berennet
Transgender songwriter Namoli Brennet is coming to Tulsa.   Her newly released "Black Crow" CD is already receiving heavy airplay on indie radio. Namoli has been nominated for 8 Outmusic Awards and was just voted Tucson's best performing artist. Her not-to-be-missed live shows are an entertaining mix of her sublime musicianship and quirky humor. Tickets are just $10 and doors open at 6 pm with a pre concert Q & A session with Namoli. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center located at 621 E 4th Street in downtown Tulsa.

First Thursday Art Opening
Thursday, May 6th: 6pm
church The May Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) showcase and exhibit of local artists at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center (621 E. 4th Street in Downtown Tulsa), will feature the Artistic Nude Photography of Matt Johnson; the show begins with a reception on Thursday, May 6th  from 6-9pm and continues throughout the month of May.

Oklahoman Matt Johnson, owner of Johnson Studios, specializes in Artistic Nude Photography and is based in Tulsa.  Matt has always had a deep appreciation for the human form.  He began his art expression in the color pencil medium sketching in the pin-up type format in his teen years.  Matt is a neon bender by trade for a commercial sign company.  He has been married to his wife Denise since 1987 and they have three wonderful children.  In 2006 his artistic will drew him to the camera.  Since then he has been creating nude art using the lens of a camera and his imagination through the editing process. After developing a diverse portfolio Matt's work was accepted into galleries in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  He was the featured artist in two different Eureka Springs gallery shows in 2009.  Matt is beginning to show his work in his home town of Tulsa and is scheduled for two separate gallery shows in the upcoming months.

2010 Census Partner
Census 2010
Oklahomans for Equality will be a 2010 Census Partner. We have formally pledged our commitment to share the 2010 Census message and mobilize our LGBT  community in support of the Census Bureau's goal of achieving a complete count.

The 2010 Census in the United States will count gay married couples for the first time in US history.  The questionnaire format will remain unchanged, offering the choice of "husband or wife" and "unmarried partner" to describe a household relationship. Same Sex couples may check married couple or unmarried partner to identify their relationship.  Oklahomans for Equality is also pleased that the Census Bureau is encouraging Transgendered individuals to self identify on their forms.

By law the census ensures confidentiality.
