Neill Equality Center (621 E. 4th Street in Downtown Tulsa), will feature works from world renown photographer Robert Giard (1939-2002); the show begins with a reception on Thursday, December 3rd from 6-9pm and continuing throughout the month of December and throughout January of 2010.

Robert Girad's subject matter for his photography is legion and includes landscapes from his travels and home, nudes and most significantly, portraits of noted gay and lesbian literary lights such as Edward Albee, Allen Ginsberg, Adrienne Rich, David Leavitt and Michael Cunningham. This unique archive of photographic portraits of gay and lesbian writers by the late Robert Giard is on loan from the Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library's prestigious American Collection.  And will be on display through December 2009 and January 2010. During the holidays, many people are dealing with loss.  They have a deep need to grieve but everybody around them is celebrating.  Oklahomans for Equality is pleased to announce a FREE specialized mini-workshop to help those associated with the LGBT community dealing with bereavement.

Sometimes the holiday season acts as a trigger for overwhelming sadness. Denise Hunter, a L.P.C. and a grief counselor for Sojourn Care, facilitates grief workshops, and provides grief counseling to individuals.  Denise will be leading the session which is designed to help individuals identify the common physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual reactions to grief. Denise will cover topics dealing with stress associated with grieving and helping you to develop a plan of action for self care during the holidays.

Please confirm your attendance and participation by contacting Debby@okeq.org
