International Transgender Day of Remembrance
Nov. 20th 2009: 7:30pm
|
Oklahomans for Equality joins
our international transgender community on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.,
November 20th, 2009 at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center
located at 621 East 4th Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma as we remember
those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.
Dr. Laura Arrowsmith, Director
of Oklahomans for Equality's Gender Outreach Program and members of
the Tulsa transgender community will lead the service. Our special musical
guests will be Council Oak Mens Chorale and Sisters in Song with clergy from the progressive and affirming faith community participating.
We live in times more sensitive
than ever to hatred based violence. The deaths of those based on anti-transgender
hatred or prejudice are largely ignored. Over the last decade, more
than one person per month has died due to transgender prejudice. This
trend shows no sign of abating.
The International Transgender
Day of Remembrance publicly mourns and honors the lives of our brothers
and sisters who might otherwise be forgotten. Please join us for this
solemn and informative event.

Library in your regular Amazon shopping. I've made it easy: follow
this link to the Library's Amazon wish list http://amzn.com/w/1Y56ZOYRAQAZT
