Walton's Lines
November  5, 2009
6pm to 9pm
John BrooksThe November Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) showcase and exhibit of local artists at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center (621 E. 4th Street in Downtown Tulsa), will feature famed Tulsa architect and historian John Brooks Walton; the show begins with a reception on Thursday, November 5th from 6-9pm and continuing throughout the month of November.

John Brooks Walton is best known throughout the region for his long and feted architectural career with designs, restorations and books that encompass many famous landmarks. His foray into art on the canvas is a more recent bend in his career. In 2003 at the age of 74, he began his artist's career in a medium of acrylic on canvas with landscapes, still life and origami leans toward a whimsical and warm feeling. Mr Walton has donated 24 paintings along with copies of his books to Oklahomans for Equality for this exhibit. Along with the art and styles of John Brooks Walton, there will be copies of "Walton's Line", a poem by Oklahoma Poet Laureate (2003-2007) Francine Ringold; this poem was written for John and artfully describes his unique painting style.

Thanks!
Thank you for the lavish acts of love and support
I felt on my birthday.

I never dreamed 50 years old could be so wonderful.
Your generous gifts to
Oklahomans for Equality on my
behalf will help continue the
good work being done.

My family and co-workers were welcomed and moved by the hospitality and warmth they felt from our lgbt community. I consider it an honor to serve along side of you in this critical work of equality.  I have had a wonderful life.
