Welcome to the eNews. 
Wow, what an exciting week this was. We had all kinds of new programs start, and we are thrilled to see so many of you joining in. It just seems like things just keep getting better and better. Below are some exciting upcoming community wide events that we were sure you would want to know about.

Tulsa Princess of Wail Rebecca Ungerman
Equality Rocks Friday Night!
August 28, 2009 8pm
Admission: $10
The Equality Center will rock tonight with Tulsa native and soul siren Rebecca Ungerman. Ungerman broke out of the popcorn mold of female lead singers as the brassy voiced front women of jump band Blue Combo. Over the years she has opened for legends like Little Richard and has entertained thousands, through out Oklahoma and the midwest.  She brought together Tulsa Divas in the name of H.O.P.E. and released her frst solo studio album "I Just Want..." that  was a combination of fan selected favorite and songs she wrote. She recently joined Cindy Cain, Pam Van Dyke Crosby and Annie Ellicott on the Tulsa PAC summer stage production and album of "Onstage at the Midnight Social Club." Ungerman will be joined by Frank Brown & Bill Crosby on guitar and bass.  More>> 
Lambda Bowling League Rush Party
Monday, August 31st: 7pm
  Are you curious about joining the Lambda Bowling League?  There will be a Rush Party on Monday, August 31st to acquaint folks with the league and answer any questions you may have.  You can meet the league members AND bowl a game or two or three.  The fun starts at 7:00pm at Andy B's Bowling Center, 8711 S Lewis Ave.  League play begins on Monday, September 14th.

 "First Thursday" Art Opening
Thursday, September 3rd: 6-9pm
Continuing the monthly showcase of local artists at the Equality Center (621 E. 4th Street in Downtown Tulsa), Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) will feature Tulsa Artist Christine Dean with an opening show and reception on Thursday, September 3rd from 6-9pm and continuing throughout the month of August.

Christine's primary focus is on canvas work and portraits but she also enjoys the challenge of murals and has commissions for businesses and private homes. With a degree in graphic design, she shares her experience and talent through private lessons and exhibits throughout the art community.  This show centers on techniques and media that are unique to the artist with metallic paint and found objects.  More>>

"LGBT Center Awareness Day"

Oklahomans for Equality and the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center will inaugurate "LGBT Center Awareness Day", a first-ever national day of action focused on awareness around the work of LGBT community centers everywhere.
MISSION:
Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) seeks equal rights for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) individuals and families through advocacy, education, programs, alliances and the operation of the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.
