Story of the Week

Sarah's Story: La Habra High School

Greetings!

Meet Sarah, president of La Habra High School's Bible club called Campus Light.

At the end of Sarah's sophomore year, the president of that time invited her to lead a girl's Bible study. "It was very fulfilling and I saw how much I was able to grow," said Sarah.

"I felt like there was something I could do to help our club continue to grow," said Sarah. She explained that God laid it upon her heart to make Campus Light a priory. Now a senior and president of Campus Light, Sarah is leading a club of 50+ high school students and spearheading events like See You At The Pole.

This past Wednesday Sarah, alongside other Campus Light members, gathered around their flagpole in front of La Habra High School and publicly worshipped and prayed. "I felt very refreshed to have that time with God and see other people worshipping" noted Sarah.

Sarah reflects on their See You At The Pole experience and said she was pleasantly surprised with who showed up. "It was really encouraging to see younger faces and freshman being part of the club" she said.

Beyond hosting See You At The Pole, Sarah shared the clubs plan for weekly, rotating activities; inviting a speaker, playing worship, and leading a Bible study are all on the agenda for the year.

Stepping into her presidency, Sarah admitted, "At first I thought, 'I just want a bunch of people to come to our club and I want our school to know who we are.' Then I started to understand that I want a great group of believers in our club to go out and spread the Gospel."

Sarah explained the environment she hopes she can help create. "I want the club to be a great place to come together and be committed...I want the club to be a safe place and to feel like you're part of the family."

We at CSP commend Sarah and her efforts to boldly lead a Bible club at La Habra High School, and we ask that you'd join us in prayer over Sarah and her Campus Light team this year.

Pray for, "Strength to face our school when it seems impossible to share the Gospel" asks Sarah. Pray that students will make Campus Light a priority in their busy schedules. Lastly, pray for their outreach event as they plan to host a rally in December.

Please pray for the CSP staff and both the Biola and APU Chapters as we head to the mountains this weekend for an intense time of training, team bonding, and learning!
