Story of the Week
Peru Debrief
Greetings!,
Some of you might be wondering, "What exactly does CSP do while students are away?" That is a great question! Summer is a time of reviewing the past year, recharging as a staff, improving infrastructure, and moving forward with major goals.
The summer months are also a unique time for CSP; this summer, as you may have read, two international mission trips took place in Cambridge and Peru. After transitioning back to CA, the Peru team had the opportunity to debrief the overall impact of the trip and share what happened in the mountains.

Mark Hopson, Staff member and Peru team leader, shared his
overall vision for the trip's impact. He states, "...Though our ministry is stateside, we want each person on our team to be a Great Commission believer." Mark continued, "As they step far outside the comforts of Southern California, I believe they will catch a fuller glimpse of the Great Commission and how their lives must be completely oriented to the only mission of eternal significance."
Peru Team student leader, Kolby, shared with the team how he grew on the trip. He said, "First, I grew in my commitment to reaching people with the Gospel. When you're serving in a foreign country, you face a lot of hardships - in my case, different food than I'm used to, hard sleeping conditions, strenuous hikes - in order to keep going, I had to remember why I was here. And that was to bring these people Bibles in their native language. This trip really tested my commitment to preaching the Gospel where it has never been or needs to be reinforced. Thankfully with Christ's help I persevered."

Kolby shares at a Peruvian high school how the Gospel shaped him during his high school journey.
|
Kolby shared that in a comfortable environment it can be easy
to lead and direct people. "But when these conditions aren't being met," said Kolby, "it's much harder! You have to quit trusting your own abilities and start trusting God. I had to get up each day and consciously decide to trust the Lord and take on the responsibility of leading the team even when I wasn't feeling great.
Definitely a strengthening experience!"
Please pray for Kolby and the Peru Team that they can continue to grow in their commitment to the Gospel now that they're home. Pray for the Peruvian families who received Bibles in their native language for the first time; pray that the Gospel is well received and alive to those who were handed a Bible. Lastly, pray for the Christians CSP partnered with who have dedicated their lives to spread the Gospel in Peru.
