Two months and three weeks ago, David Wahlman and Alanna Denton met Robert. Two weeks ago, they rejoiced in listening to Robert pray to give control of his life to Christ. 

 

On the second day of the spring CSP retreat in February during beach witnessing, David and Alanna met a 20-year-old man, Robert, who, though he claimed to be a Christian, was amazed when he heard the truths of the Gospel.

 

Robert wanted to continue this conversation and invited David and

Alanna back to his house another day. 

 

Through another face-to-face meeting and a Skype conversation, David and Alanna were able to share the Gospel in more depth, helping Robert wrestle through some hang-ups.

conversation two weeks ago, Robert suggested they read the Bible together, starting in

the gospel of John.

 

"So we got to John 1:1, 'In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God and the word was God... what the heck?!'" laughed Alanna as she recalled the conversation. "We basically went through through the first half of John 1, just explaining the Gospel again."

 

When Robert shared that he was afraid God would hold his past sins against him, David and Alanna emphasized forgiveness and grace, sharing the parable of the prodigal son. 

 

"When he soaked all that in, he said, 'You know what, I think I'm ready to do this. I think I want to control of my life over to Christ.' And there was great rejoicing," said David. 

 

After that, Robert had one last question: How do I give my life to Christ?

 

David and Alanna explained what it means to accept Christ and Robert prayed his own sincere prayer.

 

"After he said this prayer, he paused and looked up at us and was like, 'Do you guys feel like this every day?' He just felt such a burden lifted from his shoulders," said David. "He said he was all tingly and really happy. It was so great to see. On the other side of the screen he was just stupefied at how awesome this was. He was ecstatic about it."
