  Greetings!

"It just hits you in a fresh way that kids have really never heard the gospel. It takes away the hindrance of us thinking that everyone has already heard the gospel and doesn't want to accept it."

Ollie Mulligan, Biola Director

It was Thursday night of the Hometown Trip to Cool, a small town near Sacramento, CA, and Ollie Mulligan was beginning to feel the tinge of subtle disappointment.

A week full of witnessing without a single opportunity to pray with a student to receive Christ. Ollie flipped through the first few pages of the Bible he took with along with him, the front presentation page still blank. Only one day left...

The next day, on the team's last witnessing trip at Del Oro High School, Ollie and his high school partner had the opportunity to speak to a student named Zane after school.

"Pretty soon, it became obvious that Zane had never heard the Gospel before," said Ollie. After a brief explanatioof the offer presented in John 3:16, Zane fully understood that he had a decision "to believe or not to believe" and was eager to make that decision right then and there.

"So I got the chance to pray with him to receive Christ," said Ollie. "He was very excited about it and pumped about joining the Christian club to grow in community as a Christian." Ollie remembered that he still had the Bible he had just been flipping through the night before. Using a highlighter, the only writing utensil available, Ollie wrote:Zane's Bible Inscription

"Presented to: Zane, From: Ollie, On the Occasion of: Zane praying to accept Jesus."

"He was very happy to receive that Bible and I was excited to be able to write that for him," said Ollie.

Zane's acceptance of Christ provided a boost of excitement and confidence among the group, as well as a fitting cap to the end of the week, but most of all it was an affirmation of the mission to share the Good News of Christ until every student has heard.

"It gives us the realization that we're actually doing something really useful in spreading the Gospel," said Ollie. "It takes away all the hindrances. People are definitely there who have never heard the gospel and there are definitely people who are ready to accept it when they hear it."
