  Greetings!

As our Biola and APU student leaders work hard to recruit volunteers and connect with new high schools, they continue to be faithful in sharing the Good News. Here's Alanna's story of a brand new believer in Christ:

"God showed up (yet again) in our witnessing trip last Thursday in La Mirada Park.  I approached a man sitting on a grassy hill by himself and asked him if he was willing to share his views about God. He replied that he only spoke Spanish.

Having previously taken four years of Spanish in high school and gone to Honduras on a missions trip last Spring Break, I replied that I spoke some Spanish and we proceeded to have a long conversation about the Gospel. He asked a lot of clarifying questions and he kept asking me how he could accept Jesus into his heart as the King of his life. At the end of our conversation, he accepted Christ for the first time!

The Holy Spirit's work was so evident in that conversation.  Even though I was awkwardly stammering the basic Gospel in my third language, God worked in his heart.  It makes me think of what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:17- 'For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.'"
