Story of the Week

5 high schools

for the gospel

  Greetings!

This had never happened before.

Christian clubs from La Habra, Sonora, La Serna, Troy and La Mirada high schools banded together to host one big outreach event called The Moment.

 The Moment

Their vision: "to unite Christians from many local high schools together as one body of Christian believers."

Their mission: "We are coming together with our friends from school who do not know Jesus so that they might receive the gospel through both our actions and words"

 crazy game

240 students came to participate in crazy games, play on blow-up carnival attractions, hear live bands play, eat BBQ and listen to the gospel presented by a local pastor.

 band playing

Pastor Brian shared his testimony about trying every kind of religious worldview and eventually realizing that they were all the same: "Be good... go to heaven." He finally encountered God for the first time when he was invited to a worship night at Biola University and realized that the message of Christianity was unique and true: based on a gift, not works.

 student speaking to the crowd

After hearing this message, 26 students making first time decisions for Christ, and countless other students recommitted their lives to the Lord. There were at least 30 students and parents available to pray with students and all of them were sought out.

Here's a testimony from Mario, one of the students who recommitted his life to the Lord: "I was a gangbanger and a heavy smoker, but today God touched my heart and said, 'leave those things behind.' Now I am joyful and love God so much!"

  • Praise God and pray for these new and recommitted Christians that they will grow in their faith.
