You may not be surprised to hear that a rap band performed at Downey High School after school, but what if you found out it was a Christian rap band?

Last month the Christian club at Downey High hosted a gospel rally to let students know what their club is all about. Miguelito, one of the club members, brought his Christian rap band to play and Eddy, a rapper from Biola, shared his music as well.
A crowd of 60 stayed to listen to the music. In between the two bands, a local pastor shared the gospel.
In the words of Laura, the club's campus mentor, "The pastor asked the students who wanted Jesus as their Lord and Savior to come up, and 16 people went up to the stage boldly!"

After the rally, some of the CSP mentors approached a group of 9 high school students, asking them what they thought of the message the pastor shared. The students were reluctant to respond until the mentors shared their testimonies. Then they became really interested in what the CSP mentors were sharing. By the end of the conversation, the students were each given Bibles and hung out with the college students for a half-hour, asking them where they should start reading.

Laura explained that the mentors' testimonies changed the tone of the conversation: "It was important for the students to see Christians as loving. These were kids that laughed at being handed the Bible in the beginning and then were thirsty for more at the end. Praise God!"
The Christian club at Downey is excited about planning another rally to share their faith again in June.
