Story of the Week
April 10th, 2010
Greetings!

Last week at Willow Canyon HS in Surprise, AZ, the Sold Out and Radical for Jesus Club (SOAR) did something their school district had never seen: they stood up for Jesus. Hundreds felt their presence, around 50 students heard the gospel presented through rallies, and at least 5 students prayed to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here's what the students have to say about it.

"God just continues to
strengthen me."

Carole, WCHS Junior
Talking About a student who accepted Christ
"I showed him the picture in the 4 Spiritual Laws booklet that shows Jesus is the way that you can get to heaven - there's just no other way. Then I asked him, 'do you want to have Jesus in you heart?'  And he was like, 'yeah.' - I hope he comes to the rally tomorrow!"

Katie, WCHS Senior
Speaking about how God stretched herKatie
"God says to go out into all the world and tell them who Jesus is, and tell them what I did for you, that's our job. So I feel accomplished, I feel like God has empowered me. And I never thought I would have been able to do something like this.
It's really cool. You ask God to come into your life and empower you in such a cool way, and He really does it. He answers our prayer."

Salome, WCHS Senior
"I have a big burden to preach the gospel. Sometimes I can't sleep because I feel like I'm not doing enough. It's really bad. So doing this really made me feel like my job is to just say it and they can accept it or not and then I can sleep now."

Good Friday rally welcomes 15 New Believers
The final outreach on Friday at lunch seemed sabotaged by half day schedule. One campus mentor saw the 35 students who came and thought the rally had failed.

But these 35 students were there for a reason.
Even though they could have gone home for the weekend, they chose to come to the gym to hear about Jesus. And when the guest speaker invited students to pray to receive Jesus, 15 of them raised their hands!

Cassi, campus mentor, said that "God brought the exact people who He wanted at these rallies!"

Pray for us...

  • This week SOAR had 44 students show up for the follow-up Pastor Panel. Pray for boldness for the SOAR club to follow up with their questioning friends.

  • Thousands of students have been exposed to the gospel in the last 2 weeks at dozens of campuses. Pray that all these gospel seeds grow, and that Christian students follow God as He leads them to follow-up with their friends.

Thanks for your prayers. We're glad to have your partnership in ministry through Prayer.

Sincerely,

the California School Project
