Story of the Week
October 23rd, 2009
Greetings!

You've been praying for our Leaders preparing the semester with recruiting and training. And you've prayed for the new Campus Mentors as they got ready to connect with their students and impact campuses for Christ.

Now it's happening.

This week, we bring you Kolby, a Biola Freshman who joined our team a few weeks ago and is already active in campus ministry. Be encouraged.
Kolby: Campus Mentor, Biola Freshman
BenKolby loves witnessing. He and his friends shared the gospel all through high school and he came to Biola this year hoping to start witnessing, or join some people already doing it. So when he got the chance to lead a team of CSP mentors to help the Bible Club at Fullerton HS share with their friends after school last Friday, he took it.

Six CSP volunteers joined five Fullerton students to share Christ that day. Kolby's favorite conversation with more than a dozen tough-looking guys in black. "Definitely not my crowd", he said, but Cassi and Ruth, students from the Bible club, wanted to go for it. According to Kolby, these students "were just on fire for the Lord, it was really cool to see."

Kolby, Cassi and Ruth talked to the intimidating group. After they debated the existence of God for 15 minutes, Kolby felt led to lay out the gospel for them. While he spoke, he could see these young men fall silent and pay attention. After he finished with "I tell you this because it's something huge, and I love you guys, and I want to see you in heaven one day," they thanked him for sharing, and for caring about what they had to say.

Out of all the conversations that day, one student actually decided to accept Christ. But because of
mentors like Kolby and students like Cassi, many are thinking about it. And God's not done with them this year.

Pray with Us

  • Many students at Fullerton took Bibles and tracts. Pray that God speaks to them as they read.
  • In the last 2 week at Fullerton HS, 5 students (re)/committed their lives to Jesus. Pray that God continues to work at Fullerton, and that those students will grow in their faith.
  • There are over 40 Campus Mentors meeting students at 21 schools across LA and Orange County. Keep praying that mentors' first meetings with students set up a year of dynamic ministry.

Keep praying with us, and look for another story of campus outreach next week.

Sincerely,

Sharing Christ at Fullerton HS

In the last two weeks,
6 students teamed up with nearly 20 mentors from Biola to talk with 121 Fullerton students. 67 of those heard about Christ, and several responded

4  recommitted their lives to the power of the Holy Spirit!

1 student accepted Christ for the first time!

According to Michael, "It shows the campus that they're not afraid of what they believe."
