Fresh Gallery presents Featured Artists Barbara Williams and Emily Million
 | Art by Emily Million |
Fresh Gallery, located at the southwest corner of Campbell and Walnut, presents Featured Artists Barbara Williams and Emily Million. Barbara's work is derived from two longstanding themes: that of her Ozarks family circa 1940's-1950's and of Ozarks' rock buildings. The work is mixed media collage, with portions of etching, photograph, and paint--including encaustic paint. For the past 10 years she has documented the rock architecture native to the Ozarks. This has resulted in several photographs, mixed media paintings, and two programs with Ozarks Public Television- KOZK's Ozarks Watch Video Magazine: "Ozarks Native Stone Architecture" and "Rocky Road, Ozarks Native Stone Architecture." Watch for an airing in July! Emily's work explores gender identity and roles in a contemporary cultural context. "Each piece I create is built around the lone female protagonist," she says. "I reference Western myth and story through the lens of a contemporary woman artist. The scenes, while echoing reality are more solidly tied to an emotional landscape and a world that is neither literal nor conventional. The story has morphed into that of the feminine, fumbling her way through her cultural strangleholds back toward a more essential identity and nature. ...Through this body of work I am creating a visual language of and for the feminine story." Enjoy works by Barbara and Emily, plus art by Fresh's 18 regional artists. www.freshgallery.org. (417) 862-9300 Open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. T-Sat

Good Girl Art Gallery presents Artists Tina Noble and Maneesh Anand
Good Girl Art Gallery, 325 E. Walnut St., Ste. 101, presents Artists Tina Noble and Maneesh Anand in June. "My fascination with oppositions has been my life long journey," Tina says. "Since I was a child I have had dreams of smooth humming white with the juxtaposition of ever speeding chaos in black ... For this show, it was my intention to push my darkness into light - The Shadow Effect. It's not the proclamation of something new but the deep experience of parting and the related life-accepting experiences." From the words of Krishnamurti "We have separated living from dying and the interval between them is fear. You cannot live without dying." Maneesh brings a collection of abstract ink drawings to Good Girl Art. "Each line, dot, and curve, precisely placed, creates individual dialogues and images that beg for the eyes' caress," he says. Randy Bacon presents Paintings by John L. Payne and Photography by Lane Simmons
 | Arty by John Payne |
Randy Bacon Photography Studio and Figment Art Gallery in the Monarch Art Factory, 600 W. College St., presents an opening art reception for Paintings by John L. Payne and Photography by Lane Simmons during the June 3 First Friday Art Walk. Payne says he paints, firstly, in an attempt to represent his life experiences. Secondly, he desires to create work that is vibrant and full of color and energy, and that makes the viewer smile, tilt their head or at least think. He hopes his work provides a place of escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Lane Simmons is a professor of photography at Evangel University and a working artist at Figment Art Gallery and Culture House, which adjoins Randy Bacon Photography in the Monarch Art Factory. His two favorite subjects to photography are landscapes and old, dilapidated buildings. "God's love for people and His infinite creativity are reflected through this wonderful playground we call earth," says Simmons. Simmons feels dilapidated buildings represent the hopes, dreams, and memories of the people who inhabited them. He is drawn to these subjects because they are layered with shapes and textures. Live music, free refreshments and local vendors will top off the night. (417) 868-8179 www.randybacon.com www.gallerysounds.net Open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. T-F; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat

Revel Advertising proudly presents the Art of Elizabeth Chapman
Revel Advertising, 214 W. Phelps, Ste.102, conveniently located next to Obelisk Home in the Inspired Commerce building, features Elizabeth Chapman during the month of June. Elizabeth is an expressionistic abstract artist who has spent a majority of her life in the Ozarks. She graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education, which she uses as an art educator. Elizabeth states "the journey begins with a blank canvas: believing in faith that a painting will emerge. The first marks are made and the dialogue has begun. Responding instinctively; colors, lines and textures bring life to the canvas. Music often strikes the chords of inspiration, drawing out the deep emotions that become a work of art. This universal language is used as personal communication to the viewer."(417) 368-6966 www.reveladvertising.com.
