As the old year ends and a new one begins, we should all reflect on our own good fortune...as well as those less fortunate. CMG has always given back, and in recent years the EC's (Event Committees) have all supported local charities.
For example, the ECLA (Events Committee in Los Angeles) collected donations this holiday season for two LA-based shelters for LGBT youth -- The Jeff Griffiths Center and the Los Angeles Youth Network. (The Los Angeles Youth Network is the only shelter in Los Angeles that accepts LGBT youth under 18 -- in fact, as young as 12.)
Thousands and thousands of kids and teens whose families will not or cannot keep them at home need our help.
- Find an LGBT youth charity in your area, and ask them what they need -- your time, your talents, your money or your donations of food, clothing, old computers, furniture, etc. -- all charities will have a "wish list."
- Almost every shelter needs clothes and food that their budgets can't afford. Go through your closets and clean out all those clothes and shoes you no longer want -- someone else does.
- When you go food shopping, add ONE item to your basket each trip...even a Cup o' Noodles!
- When you go clothes shopping, add ONE item to your purchases...even one pair of crew socks!
- When you go to any other store -- Target, Costco, or the 99 Cents store -- add ONE item to your shopping cart...even one bottle of shampoo!

 January 31: Circus Welt, written and directed by long time CMG'er Pavel Cerny will be presented at the Whitefire Theatre at 13500 Ventura Boulevar in Sherman Oaks. It is the year 1933 and Hitler is usurping power. Among the artists in a small travelling circus in the South of Germany are Jews, gays, blacks -- even a communist. The play raises the question whether artists should stay above the fray of the political life or get involved. Regular ticket price is $25.00. CMG'ers only $20.00.
